Welche anderen Möglichkeiten hätte House denn, mit seinen Schmerzen umzugehen, damit es ihm nicht einmal genauso ergeht, wie diesem Patienten?

Ernsthaft, das interessiert mich. Ich hoffe, das wird einmal ausführlicher thematisiert. Es wird immer nur gesagt, dass er zu viel Vicodin schluckt. Dann erwähnt mal wieder jemand „There are other ways to deal with the pain“.
Welche?
Andere Schmerzmittel, Physikalische Therapien, Psychotherapie (für die psychische Komponente der Schmerzen), Antidepressiva?

Was würde jemand in seiner Lage tun, der nicht ganz so stur ist, wie House?

Would Gregory House make a good dad? Will he come around and support Cuddy’s decision to be a mother? At last week’s FOX TCA, Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) addressed these questions and shared her thoughts on the latest House-Cuddy relationship developments. Hugh Laurie (House) weighed in as well.

„It’s been great,” Lisa said during the House panel. “I think it’s been more of a reveal [of feelings] than a change. I think [House and Cuddy] came together in that moment when they kissed… I loved that they found each other in pain. I pondered how these two people could come together… Through pain seemed absolutely perfect.”

“It wasn’t conventionally romantic,” Hugh Laurie agreed. “But nothing this fellow does is. It’s a twisty thing and there’s something about the loneliness of these two characters, there’s something poignant about these two characters needing each other without realizing it. Neither of them saw it coming.“

And though Cuddy’s decision to foster a child seems to have put a damper on whatever progress the two of them had made, I do believe hope is still alive and well for Huddy. After the panel, KTV correspondent, Marisa Roffman, hunted Lisa Edelstein down to get her thoughts…

Cuddy has wanted to be a mom for a long time. How did you react to hearing that she would almost get a baby, only to lose her at the last second, and then end up getting another chance?
Lisa Edelstein: It’s a very heavy storyline for sure. A very emotional one for me, I’m not out of that category as a human being. The [producers] actually gave me a heads-up about the storyline beforehand, so they could see how I felt about it and whether or not I was prepared to do it. I think it’s [very typical of] our time, the time that we live in. A lot of women, we have to take care of ourselves, we run businesses — hospitals in [Cuddy’s] case — and there isn’t a lot of time to be that woman that two generations ago told us we were going to be. So there’s this strange disconnect between what it is you’ve done with your life, and what it is somebody told you you were supposed to do with your life. It’s also very hard to know where those feelings — your own desire to be a mother — come from. [Is it] society telling you you’re supposed to be a mother? [Is it] whatever religion [you practice] that is telling you you’re supposed to be a mother? [Is it] a biological urge to become a mother? All of those things are very confusing and it’s very hard to find yourself in that ruckus of noise in your brain. I love that they took it on for Cuddy.

We saw that House had an obvious reaction to Cuddy getting a baby at the end of “Joy to the World.” Is he going to warm up at all to her new daughter?
LE: I don’t know how it’s going to eventually play out, but certainly as it starts to unfold, [House] is very jealous and not very supportive. [Cuddy] really comes to a point where she doesn’t know if she made the right decision taking the baby. So there are some interesting turns [the storyline will] take.

It’s a little hard to imagine House parenting a child, if the relationship with Cuddy was to really take off.
LE: I think he would be a great father figure, quite frankly. I think if there’s anyone that man could talk to, it would be a child. Children aren’t afraid of the truth. Only grown-ups are.

When Cuddy chose to pursue a child, do you think that House being a co-parent might’ve been in the back of her mind?
LE: No, I think she chose the baby to be a part of her life completely independent of him. I think those are two very different things. But she is looking for that deeper experience and she has been unable to do that in a relationship with anyone else. I think the closest she’s come to an adult relationship is with House because they’re both so broken, they both have such bad relationship skills, but somehow their dynamic is perfect for each other.

How would you describe the dynamic between House and Cuddy?
LE: It is very much like a husband-wife relationship, like people who have been together 50 years. There’s a lot of bickering, but a lot of love underneath it. The way you could fight with somebody because you know the foundation is firm. I love their complicated relationship. I love how it’s slowly becoming unfurled, how the dynamic is becoming more and more layered. I’m eager to see where [the writers] go with it, because it just gets more and more interesting. I love working with Hugh, too. We have a really nice chemistry together and we have a lot of fun. So the more the better.

House seems to take great pleasure in making fun of Cuddy.
LE: Usually about my derrière!

Do you ever wish you had more of a chance to zing him once in a while?
LE: I’m okay. I’m okay being his straight man. Sometimes the [producers] will come up to warn me about an ass joke. They’re like, we don’t want you to be worried, you aren’t really getting wider, it’s just for the joke.

Despite all the jabs made at Cuddy’s expense, it seems like she can’t resist House.
LE: I relate to Cuddy. There is something about being a woman who is in control of everything wanting to be with a man who has more control than she does. Whatever way [House] can take the power, he’s going to do that, and that’s very attractive to a woman who has to do it all for herself and for other people. He’s a real alpha male. Maybe he’s not so nice about it sometimes, but he’s a real alpha male.

Plus, Hugh isn’t exactly hard on the eyes.
LE: I think Hugh is very sexy. I mean, he’s a married man sexy. I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea. But no, he’s beautiful. And mostly because he is extremely bright and very well educated, great to talk to, has a really interesting point of view. He’s just a real man. He feels like a real man. Not a lot of them around…
