House‘ star Hugh Laurie records with Allen Toussaint in New Orleans
Hugh Laurie stars as the intense, namesake doctor on the hit Fox series “House.” The British-born actor also sings, is proficient on piano and guitar, and is recording what has been described as a “New Orleans blues” album for Warner Bros. Records.

Laurie slipped into New Orleans this week and spent a day at Piety Street Recording in Bywater, recording horn parts with producer Joe Henry. Henry knows Piety Street well — that’s where he produced much of the Elvis Costello/Allen Toussaint collaboration „River in Reverse.“Toussaint wrote the arrangements for Laurie’s project, and joined him in the studio Monday. Featured players included trumpeter Tracy Griffin, saxophonists Clarence Johnson III, Brian “Breeze” Cayolle and Albert Fish, and trombonist “Big” Sam Williams.
Laurie has apparently admired New Orleans from afar for some time. According to published reports, Laurie drove his red 1966 Ford Galaxy convertible to New Orleans this summer, and was happy to discover the town lived up to his expectations.
To gear up for Monday’s recording session at Piety Street, Laurie, Henry and several friends dined at Restaurant August on Sunday night.
No word yet on when the album may be released.

Gott, Dr. House ist noch viel realistischer, als sogar ich vermutet habe (und ich habe bereits betont, dass sein Team eigentlich sehr effizient ist und in RL konkurrenzfähig währe).
